Professionelle Diagnostik und Förderung bei Legasthenie und LRS in Deutsch und Englisch

Dyslexia or reading and spelling difficulties (LRS) do not disappear on their own. However, with the right diagnosis, dyslexia and LRS support, the weakness can be significantly improved or overcome.

Testing, Consultation and Tutoring

We start by arranging a consultation appointment.

I conduct an anamnesis appointment

I test attention and perception with a diagnoses AFS test.

I advise you on further therapy and support.

I train your child's attention and promote their perception with special support materials and appropriate exercises.

Individually, I address the spelling and reading strategies.

I provide the appropriate material for homework.

ORIENTATION TO THE SCHOOL CURRICULUM

LEARNING TO READ BETTER

First, children learn to know all the letters "putting them together" and synthesize them. Now, stop-start readers who work out a sentence word by word must become fast and fluent readers. To do this, syllables and word components must be recognized automatically. Being able to read means being able to understanding the content of the text.

  • Fluent and emphasized reading aloud
  • Understanding written work instructions
  • Finding specific information in texts
  • Knowing and distinguishing between types of texts
  • Understanding factual and practical texts: encyclopedia articles, tables and diagrams
  • Reading strategies for orientation in a text
  • Summarizing texts
  • Finding text passages
  • Looking up words, breaking down texts

Spelling

In order to learn good spelling, rules and derivations must be learned and memory words must be trained. Children with dyslexia or reading/spelling difficulties find this difficult, so I practice systematically in individual steps:

  • Sound-letter assignments
  • Distinguish similar sounds and assign letters
  • Loud and silent consonants
  • vowel lengths
  • Uppercase and lowercase letters
  • Derive words (umlauts and final hardening in b, d, g and s)
  • Double consonants eg. ck and tz
  • s, ss and ß
  • Stretching h and hyphenating h
  • i, ie and ih
  • Morphemes, prefixes and suffixes
  • Hyphenation

Grammar

German grammar is not easy. Students have to use inflections, the tenses of verbs, parts of speech, sentence parts and punctuation again and again until they graduate from school and have them assessed in combined class tests.

  • Word families
  • Parts of speech (adjectives, verbs, nouns, articles, prepositions, adverbs...)
  • Singular - plural, case, gender (case, number, gender)
  • Verb base form – inflected form
  • Tenses
  • Adjective basic form, levels of comparison
  • Personal pronouns as substitutes for nouns
  • Punctuation: period, comma, question mark, exclamation mark, colon, quotation  marks
  • Sentence types
  • Direct speech/indirect speech
  • Additions: Sentence member, one-part and multi-part addition
  • Constituent of the sentence members and declination of adjectives and nouns
  • Active / passive

Essays

Whether the essay is in primary school or secondary school - written expression not only includes good spelling but also choice of words, sentence structure and content structure. Many components of a good student essay can be practiced.

Write and revise texts:

  • Text forms: stories, descriptions, non-fictional texts, poems, comics, fairy tales, encyclopedia articles, fables, ballads, dramas and novels
  • Text components and structure: heading, line, paragraph, stanza and rhyme.
  • Types of texts: letters, picture stories, synopsis, analysis, discussions, diaries, inner monologues, interpretations and analysis
